Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are planning to appear for the OPSC exam need to know if they are eligible to apply. Checking eligibility is the first step in the process. If the candidates do not check their eligibility then their candidature will be rejected summarily. So, lets find out the eligibility of the OPSC exam.

(a) Citizenship: The candidates who want to apply for the posts under OPSC must be a citizen of India.

(b) Age: Checking age limit is another step in the eligibility process. The candidates who are to apply for the posts under OPSC must be more than 21 years but under 32 years of age to apply. The cut off date for the eligibility is informed to the candidates in the notification. The candidates must check out the age before applying for the exam.

NOTE: The candidates should know that age relaxation is available as per the govt rules.

(c) Educational Qualification: The candidates who want to appear for the exam should also know the educational qualification for the exam. The details of the educational qualification is given below:

  • The candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognised University.
  • The candidates must be able to read, write and speak the local language i.e. Odia. Also, the candidates must have:

    passed Middle School Exam with Odia as a Language subject


    passed HSC or equivalent exam with Odia as medium of examination in a non-language subject


    passed Odia as a language subject in the final exam of class 6 from an Institution recognised by the Government of Odisha or the Central Government


    passed a test in Odia in Middle English School Standard that is conducted by the School & Mass Education Department of the state Government
